Tour Itinerary

April 18

Our Holy Land adventure begins as we depart from the USA on an overnight flight to Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, Israel.

April 19

On arrival in Tel Aviv, we'll be met by our airport representative and transported via deluxe motor coach to our hotel in Jerusalem, the "City of Gold," where we'll enjoy dinner and overnight.

April 20

Our first full day in Jerusalem begins with an introduction to the city. Then it's on to the Mt. of Olives - the very place where Jesus stood and looked over the city of Jerusalem 2,000 years ago. It was also from this spot, forty days after His resurrection, that Jesus ascended into heaven (Acts 1:9-12). We'll retrace His steps as we walk down the slope of the Mt. of Olives on the Palm Sunday Road. From there we board our buses to visit the Shrine of the Book Museum, where we'll view the famous Dead Sea Scrolls. At this same location we can visit the Model of Ancient Jerusalem, a fascinating recreation of the city as it looked in Jesus' time.

April 21

We travel to northern Israel today through the Judean Wilderness via the Good Samaritan Road, where we'll pass through the "Valley of the Shadow." We’ll continue onwards through the Jordan Valley to the tranquil Mt. of Beatitudes overlooking the Sea of Galilee. On this hill, Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. Then we'll travel to nearby Capernaum, the center of Jesus' ministry in Galilee, and visit the remains of the ancient synagogue that stands on the site where He taught. We'll enjoy an exciting boat ride as we cross the Sea of Galilee.

April 22

Explore Jerusalem on your own or visit Masada (additional charge), Herod's spectacular mountaintop fortress which became the last stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top and actually see the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Time permitting, there will be a brief stop at the shores of the Dead Sea for a quick dip in the salt and mineral laden waters (lunch not included on this day).

April 23

Today we visit Yad Vashem, a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and a somber reminder of what the Jews have suffered as a people.

April 24

Today's journey will take us to the Zion Gate and entrance into the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. A visit to the Temple Mount area will bring us to the Western Wall, the remaining section of the retaining wall that enclosed and supported the Second Temple built by Herod the Great in 20 B.C. We'll see the ancient Hulda Steps, the actual steps believed to be taken by Jesus up to the Temple Mount, as well as the Herodian area and Hezekiah's Broad Wall. We'll explore the Cardo, the ancient main street of the Old City once lined with shops, now partially restored. Then we'll travel to the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu and Mt. Zion where we'll enter the Upper Room, revered as the place of the Last Supper (Mark 14).

April 25

Today we head to the Mediterranean coast and the beautiful city of Caesarea where we will view the breathtaking ancient Roman aqueduct and theatre. A center of the early Christians, it was here in Caesarea that Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new covenant (Acts 10) and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial (Acts 23). We travel onwards to view the Jezreel Valley from the heights of Mt. Carmel. On this mount, Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18). Then we'll go on to visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus (Matthew 2:23).

April 26

Our final day in Jerusalem takes us through the Old City down the Via Dolorosa, "the way of the Cross." We'll see the Church of St. Anne, the traditional site of the birthplace of Mary, the mother of Jesus, and the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle (John 5:1-31). Today's walking tour includes a stop at the Ecce Homo Arch where, according to tradition, Pontius Pilate uttered the words, "Behold the man!" after Christ’s scourging (John 19:5). Our day in the Old City concludes with a time of worship at the Garden Tomb, possible site of the garden of Joseph of Arimathea, and nearby "Gordon's Calvary," where "the place of the skull" can be discerned in the side of the hill. After our farewell dinner, we’ll board our airport transport to Tel Aviv for our flight to the USA.

April 27

We arrive back in the USA today with a lifetime of memories and friendships to cherish.
