Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - Depart USA to Tel Aviv

Today you will depart from the USA to Tel Aviv, Israel.  Meals served in flight.

Day 2 - Arrive in Tel Aviv

Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv and be transferred to your hotel in the Galilee area for check-in, dinner and a good night's sleep.

Day 3 - Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes, Gadara, Boat Ride, Jordan River

Today you explore the area around the Sea of Galilee. Enter the 2,000 year old remains of Capernaum (Luke 4) and stand in what is left of the synagogue in which our Lord ministered.  Visit the peaceful Mount of Beatitudes that overlooks the Sea of Galilee. On this hill, Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7).  Pass through Gadera, the area where Jesus cast the demons into swine (Matthew 8).  Enjoy a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and appreciate the special place this lake had in Jesus' ministry.  End the day with a stop at the Jordan River for a time of spiritual blessing.

Day 4 - Golan Heights, Mount Hermon, Caesarea Philippi, Tel Dan

Travel through the Golan Heights and better understand their strategic importance to the security of Israel.  Continue on to Mount Hermon, probably the site of the Lord's transfiguration (Matt. 17).  Visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus traveled with His disciples and where nearby Peter made his great confession to Jesus, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matt. 16).  Visit Tel Dan, one of ancient Israel's boundary markers - "From Dan to Beersheba".

Day 5 - Nazareth, Megiddo, Mt. Carmel, Caesarea Maritima

Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home, and the Mount of Precipice, where Jesus was rejected by those in the synagogue. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo, where twenty different cities lie superimposed upon each other.  Look across the Valley of Jezreel to the heights of Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal (1 Kings 18).   Wander through the Roman aqueduct and theater at Caesarea, a center of early Christianity. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new covenant (Acts 10) and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial (Acts 23).  Continue to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - Bethlehem, Mount of Olives, Palm Sunday Road, Garden of Gethsemane

Start your day in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus (Luke 2).  Look out on the Shepherd's Fields, where angels spread the Good News.  Return to Jerusalem and stand on the Mount of Olives for a remarkable view of the "Golden City" of Jerusalem, and consider that this is the final place Jesus stood before ascending into heaven forty days after His resurrection (Acts 1). Walk down Palm Sunday Road and take time to pray as Jesus did among the olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Day 7 - Mt. Zion, Upper Room, Western Wall Tunnel, Pools of Bethesda, St. Anne’s Church

Start your day at Mountain where, beneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, you can walk through some of the ancient rooms of the house belonging to Caiaphas the High Priest.  Many believe that Jesus was held overnight here before His crucifixion. Travel back in time as you explore the Western Wall Tunnel.  Continue your journey through the Old City to the Cardo.  This ancient marketplace has ruins that date back to the Judean monarchy mingled with modern shops. View the Pool of Bethesda (John 5) where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23).  Nearby, sing a chorus in St. Anne’s Church and marvel at its amazing acoustics.

Day 8 - Masada, Ein Gedi, Dead Sea

Enjoy a visit to intriguing Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod that later became the final tragic stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the fortress and look down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below.  Journey to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David and his men sought refuge from Saul (1 Samuel 23).  On the return to Jerusalem, stop at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, where those who desire may take a quick dip in the Dead Sea.

Day 9 - Model City - Shrine of the Book, Yad Vashem (Holocaust Museum), Garden Tomb, Gordon's Calvary

Learn about the Jerusalem of Jesus’ day with a look at the First Century Model of the City of Jerusalem, now housed at the Israel Museum.  The museum itself contains 10,000 years of archeological artifacts, as well as the Shrine of the Book exhibit that displays the Dead Sea Scroll containing the book of Isaiah.  Explore the poignant exhibits of Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial.  Take time to reflect on the agony of the cross at Gordon’s Calvary and the miraculous reality of the resurrection at the Garden Tomb.

Day 10 - Arrive USA

Arrive in the USA with a lifetime of memories to cherish.
