Day 10 Arrive USA
Day 1 - Depart USA to Tel Aviv
Your journey begins when you depart the USA.
Day 2 - Arrive in Tel Aviv
Upon arrival at the Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in the Galilee for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 - Caesarea, Mt. Carmel, Megiddo, Nazareth, Cana
After breakfast we travel to Caesarea where we will wonder at the Roman Aqueduct and Theatre. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new covenant and where Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Look across the Valley of Jezreel to the heights of Mount Carmel. On this mount, Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo where 20 different cities lie superimposed upon each other. Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home. Recall Jesus’ first miracle as you pass through Cana. Return to our hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Mt. of Beatitudes, Tabgha, Boat Ride, Jordan River
We spend most of our day today around the Sea of Galilee. Travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Visit the synagogue that stands on the site where Jesus taught. Recall His teaching and preaching the gospel of the kingdom. Visit the peaceful Mount of Beatitudes that overlooks the Sea of Galilee. On this hill, Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. Stop at Tabgha, where the feeding of the 5,000 is remembered at the Church of the Loaves and Fishes. Enjoy a beautiful boat ride across the Sea of Galilee. Remember your baptism at the Yardenit Baptismal Site, where the Jordan River exits the Sea of Galilee on its journey southward. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Beth Shean, Jordan Valley, Jericho (View), Valley of the Shadow, Jerusalem
Start the day in Beth Shean, a city continuously inhabited for over 5,000 years. Here Saul and his son’s bodies were hung from the walls of the city. The ruins uncovered date back to the Greek/Roman city that was part of the Decapolis of Jesus’ day. Travel through the beautiful Jordan Valley. Nearby is the ancient city of Jericho which was conquered by Joshua. Pass through the Judean Wilderness paralleling the ancient Roman road to view the Valley of the Shadow. From here, you can see St. George’s Monastery across the gorge. Arrive in Jerusalem where we will check‐in to our hotel and enjoy a wonderful buffet dinner.
Day 6 - Bethlehem, Model City – Shrine of the Book Museum, Mt. of Olives, Site of the Ascension, Garden of Gethsemane
Cross the border into Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. Look out on the Shepherds’ Fields, where angels spread the Good News. Back in Jerusalem, we visit the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book, where artifacts like the entire book of Isaiah, found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, are on display. Stand atop the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended into Heaven 40 days after His resurrection. The Chapel of the Ascension marks the traditional site. Pray in the Garden of Gethsemane amongst Olive Trees in the Kidron Valley across from the walls of Jerusalem. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Mt. Zion, Upper Room, King David’s Tomb, Caiaphas’ House, Yad Vashem, Emmaus, Samuel’s Tomb
Today we visit Mount Zion. Here we will stand in the Upper Room, revered as the place of the Last Supper and view the site of King David’s Tomb. Walk through some of the ancient rooms of Caiaphas’ the High Priest’s house beneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu. Here, it is believed by many, Jesus was held overnight before His crucifixion. Afterwards, we continue to modern Jerusalem and visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and be touched by its poignant images. View the road of Emmaus where Jesus, after His resurrection, met two of his disciples who did not recognize Him until He later broke bread with them in their home. High on hill just west of Jerusalem, we see the traditional site of Samuel’s Tomb. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 - Qumran, Masada, Dead Sea
Travel to Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery, to discuss the mysterious community of the Essenes who once lived on the shores of the Dead Sea. Continue to travel south along the Dead Sea to the Herodian fortress of Masada. Here, Jewish zealots held out against the Romans encamped below until the walls were breached. In an act of defiance against the anticipated slavery and slaughter, the group committed mass suicide, denying the Romans their “prize.” On the way back to Jerusalem, stop at the Shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, where those who desire may take a quick dip in the Dead Sea. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 - Old City, Garden Tomb, Gordon’s Calvary
Walk through the Old City and enjoy the preserved, ancient culture found in the narrow streets as well as the modernized Cardo in the Jewish Quarter. Also planned today is a stop at Gordon’s Calvary where we can sense the agony of Christ’s crucifixion and the exhilaration and reality of the resurrection at the Garden Tomb. At the end of our time in the Holy Land, we prepare for our return journey back to the USA.
Day 10 - Arrive USA
Arrive in the USA with a lifetime of memories to cherish!
