Day 3 - March 11 - Caesarea Maritima, Mt. Carmel, Nazareth Village, Cana
This morning travel to the Mediterranean coast at Caesarea Maritima, where Paul was brought for trial before Festus and King Agrippa before his journey to Rome. Look across the Valley of Jezreel to the heights of Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. Visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. Recall Jesus’ first miracle as you pass through Cana.
Day 4 - March 12 - Caesarea Philippi, Fish Lunch, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Mt. of Beatitudes, Boat Ride, Jordan Valley
Journey to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter proclaimed, “You are the Christ.” Enjoy a St. Peter’s Fish lunch at the Ein Gev kibbutz. Drive along the shores of the Sea of Galilee, passing the area of Magdala, home of Mary Magdalene. Next, travel to Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry. Visit the synagogue on the site where Jesus taught. Visit the peaceful Mount of Beatitudes that overlooks the Sea of Galilee. On this hill, Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. With Bible in hand, cross the waters of the Sea of Galilee by boat. Along the way, enjoy a special onboard worship service. End your day traveling through the Jordan Valley, the route often taken by Jesus and other Galileans as they traveled to and from Jerusalem.
Day 5 - March 13 - Mt. of Olives, Gethsemane, Garden Tomb - Gordon's Calvary, Bethlehem
Stand on the Mount of Olives as Jesus did and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem. Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives. Enter the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus went to pray after the Last Supper and was arrested. Take time to reflect on the agony of the cross at Gordon’s Calvary and the miraculous reality of the resurrection at the Garden Tomb. End your day in Bethlehem. Visit the cave where Jesus was born and the church that has been constructed on the site. Nearby, you will view Shepherds’ Field where the Good News was first heard.
Day 6 - March 14 - Masada, Dead Sea, Qumran
Enjoy a visit to intriguing Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod that later became the final tragic stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the fortress and look down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. On the way back to Jerusalem, stop at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, for an opportunity to take a quick dip in the mineral-laden waters. Travel to Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery, to learn about the mysterious community of the Essenes who once lived on the shores of the Dead Sea.
Day 7 - March 15 - Shrine of the Book - Model City, Caiaphas' House, Temple Institute, Old City Tour, Via Dolorosa, Pool of Bethesda
Enjoy a visit to the Israel Museum where you will see the first century Model City of Jerusalem and Shrine of the Book – where artifacts like the entire book of Isaiah, found among the Dead Sea Scrolls are on display. Beneath the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, you can walk through some of the ancient rooms of the house belonging to Caiaphas the High Priest. Many believe that Jesus was held overnight here before His crucifixion. See the Treasures of the Temple Museum and see replicas of the instruments used for worship and sacrifice. Walk through the Old City and enjoy the preserved, ancient culture found in the narrow streets as well as the modernized Cardo in the Jewish Quarter. Walk the authentic Via Dolorosa. View the Pool of Bethesda where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress where Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate.
