Day 1 - November 5 – Departure
Your journey begins when you depart the USA on your overnight international flight.
Day 2 - November 6 – Arrival
Welcome to the Holy Land! Upon arrival at the Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your Netanya area hotel for dinner and a good night’s rest.
Day 3 - November 7 – Sea to sea
Wander through the Roman aqueduct and theater at Caesarea, a center of early Christianity on the Mediterranean shore. Here, Cornelius became the first Gentile convert to the new covenant, and Paul was imprisoned before being taken to Rome for trial. Look across the Valley of Jezreel to the heights of Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo, an exciting archaeological dig with its layers of twenty different cities built on top of each other overlooking the Valley of Armageddon. View Nazareth from Mount of Precipice, the vantage point where tradition states the local populace attempted to throw Jesus off a cliff. Check into your Tiberias hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - November 8 – Jesus In Galilee
Set sail on a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee for a special time of worship on the water. Visit the excavations at Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene. Stand atop the Mount of Beatitudes, and recall the Sermon on the Mount. Enjoy a special St. Peter’s Fish Lunch (included). Explore Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee, including the synagogue built over the one in which He taught. Finish the day gathering at the River Jordan, where you can remember or renew your baptism. Return to your Tiberias hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - November 9 – South Along The Jordan
Journey south through the Jordan Valley to intriguing Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod the Great. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was the final tragic stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans in 70 AD. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the fortress and look down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Journey to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David and his men sought refuge from Saul. Stop at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, for an opportunity to take a quick dip in the renowned salt and mineral-laden waters. Check into your Dead Sea hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 - November 10 – Jerusalem
In modern Jerusalem, visit the Israel Museum. On the museum grounds, you’ll see the first-century model of the city of Jerusalem and the Shrine of the Book Exhibit, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Look out over the golden city of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended to heaven forty days after His resurrection. Walk down the Palm Sunday Path recalling the shouts of “Hosanna!” as Jesus made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Pray in the Garden of Gethsemane as Jesus did the night He was betrayed with a kiss.
Day 7 - November 11 – Jerusalem and Bethlehem
Pray alongside the Jewish faithful at the Western Wall. Visit the Jerusalem Archaeological Park including the Southern Wall Excavations. Step back in time as you walk through the Rabbi’s Tunnel, where there is stonework from the Second Temple Period! Visit the Tower of David Museum at the Citadel, where portions of the city’s history from the First Temple period are preserved. This afternoon, go to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, and look out over Shepherds’ Field, where the angels proclaimed “good tidings of great joy!” to the shepherds watching their flocks by night. While in Bethlehem, you’ll have an opportunity to shop and support the local Christian community.
Day 8 - November 12 – City of David
Wander through the excavations of the City of David. Explore Hezekiah’s Tunnel, an amazing engineering feat that was dug from either end and met in the middle. Walk the steps to the Pool of Siloam, recently uncovered at the foot of the city. Explore the Jewish Quarter of the Old City including the Cardo, where modern and ancient shops are intermingled. Visit the Friends of Zion Museum, which celebrates the partnerships of Christians and Jews who supported the dream of a Jewish homeland.
Day 9 - November 13 – Garden Tomb
Walk the museum and grounds of Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, with its poignant exhibits honoring the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust. On Mount Zion, enter the Upper Room in remembrance of the Last Supper and see the traditional site of King David’s Tomb. Enter the ruins of the House of the High Priest Caiaphas, where it is believed Jesus was held prior to His crucifixion. Enter the Old City via the Lion’s Gate, and view the Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath. See the pavement from the Antonia Fortress in the basement of the Sisters of Zion Church. Here, “games” Roman soldiers played are carved into the stone floor. Walk a portion of the Via Dolorosa (Way of Suffering) before gathering together at the Garden Tomb. Here, share in communion as you reflect on the agony of the crucifixion, then celebrate the glory of the resurrection! After dinner, transfer to the airport for your journey home.
Day 10 - November 14 – Return
Return home with a transformed faith and memories to last a lifetime!
