Day 1 - May 13 – Depart USA to Tel Aviv
Day 2 - May 14 – Arrive in Israel
Day 3 - May 15 – Caesarea Maritima, Mount Carmel, Megiddo, Nazareth (Mount Precipice)
Journey to Caesarea by the Sea and stand in the place where it is believed Paul addressed King Agrippa and Festus. This port city reveals many extensive remains of the theater and other sites, including a Roman aqueduct along the Mediterranean shore. Look out over the Valley of Jezreel from the heights of Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo, an exciting archeological dig with its layers of twenty different cities built on top of each other. Visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus and Mount Precipice, where an angry crowd from the synagogue attempted to throw Jesus off a cliff. Dinner is at our hotel.
Day 4 - May 16 – Caesarea Philippi, Tel Dan, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes, Jordan River
Day 5 - May 17 – Boat Ride, Harod (Gideon’s Spring), Bet Shean, Jordan Valley, Qumran, Jerusalem
Begin your last day in the Galilee by crossing the Sea of Galilee by boat. Appreciate the special place this lake had in Jesus’ ministry as you enjoy a special worship service on the lake. As we journey south on the Jordan Valley, we stop at Ein Harod, the spring where Gideon gathered his men to fight the Midianites. A little further along are the amazing ruins of the ancient Roman city of Beit Shean where the bodies of King Saul and his sons were hung following their death in a battle with the Philistines on Mount Gilboa. Travel through the Jordan River Valley, the route often taken by Jesus and other Galileans as they traveled to and from Jerusalem. Walk the remains of an ancient community near the shores of the Dead Sea at Qumran. In the caves near here, Bedouins discovered what became known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. We travel through the Judean wilderness on our way to the capital city of Jerusalem. We can take some time to view the city before checking into our hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 - May 18 – Mount of Olives, Palm Sunday Road, Garden of Gethsemane, Bethlehem (Shepherds’ Field)
Stand on the Mount of Olives for a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem. Walk down Palm Sunday Road and take time to pray as Jesus did among the olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Visit Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. Look out on Shepherds’ Field, where angels spread the Good News.
Day 7 - May 19 – Mount Zion, Upper Room, Western Wall Tunnel, Cardo, Pools of Bethesda, St. Anne’s Church
Day 8 - May 20 – Masada, Ein Gedi, Dead Sea
Enjoy a visit to intriguing Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod that later became the final tragic stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the fortress and look down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Journey to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David and his men sought refuge from Saul (1 Samuel 23). Stop at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, and feel its mineral-laden waters. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
