Day 3 - October 25 – Caesarea Maritima, Mount Carmel. Megiddo, Nazareth (Mount Precipice)

Journey to Caesarea by the Sea and stand in the place where it is believed Paul addressed King Agrippa and Festus. This port city reveals many extensive remains of the theater and other sites, including a Roman aqueduct along the Mediterranean shore. Look out over the Valley of Jezreel from the heights of Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. Travel the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo, an exciting archeological dig with its layers of twenty different cities built on top of each other. Visit Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus, and Mount Precipice, where an angry crowd from the synagogue attempted to throw Jesus off a cliff. Dinner will be at our hotel.

Day 4 - October 26 – Caesarea Philippi, Tel Dan, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Mount of Beatitudes, Jordan River

Visit Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus traveled with His disciples and where nearby Peter made his great confession to Jesus, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God”. Visit Tel Dan, one of Israel’s ancient northern boundary markers - “From Dan to Beersheba”. Return to the Sea of Galilee and explore the remains of Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Visit the ruins of the synagogue located on the site where Jesus taught. Recall His teaching and preaching the gospel of the kingdom. On the Mount of Beatitudes, contemplate the “Sermon on the Mount” that Jesus preached while standing in these hills. Remember your baptism at the Yardenit Baptismal site, where the Jordan River exits the Sea of Galilee on its journey southward.

Day 5 - October 27 – Boat Ride, Harod Spring, Bet Shean, Jordan Valley

Begin your last day in the Galilee by boat, crossing the Sea of Galilee. Appreciate this lake's special place in Jesus’ ministry as you enjoy a special worship service on the lake. As we journey south in the Jordan Valley, we stop at Ein Harod, the spring where Gideon gathered his men to fight the Midianites. A little further along are the amazing ruins of the ancient Roman city of Beit Shean, where the bodies of King Saul and his sons were hung following their deaths in a battle with the Philistines on Mount Gilboa. Travel through the Jordan River Valley, the route Jesus and other Galileans often took as they traveled to and from Jerusalem. Walk the remains of an ancient community near the shores of the Dead Sea at Qumran. Bedouins discovered what became known as the Dead Sea Scrolls in the caves near here. We travel through the Judean wilderness on our way to the capital city of Jerusalem. We can take some time to view the city before checking into our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - October 28 – Mount of Olives, Palm Sunday Road, Garden of Gethsemane, Bethlehem (Shepherds’ Field)

Stand on the Mount of Olives for a remarkable view of Jerusalem's “Golden City”. Walk down Palm Sunday Road and take time to pray as Jesus did among the olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane. Visit Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus. Look out on Shepherds’ Field, where angels spread the Good News.

Day 7 - October 29 – Mount Zion, Upper Room, Western Wall Tunnel, Cardo, Pools of Bethesda, St. Anne’s Church

Start your day at Mount Zion and the Upper Room, the traditional location of the Last Supper, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Travel back in time as you explore the Western Wall Tunnel. Continue your journey through the Old City to the Cardo. This ancient marketplace has ruins that date back to the Judean monarchy mingled with modern shops. View the Pool of Bethesda (John 5), where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Nearby, sing a chorus in St. Anne’s Church and marvel at its amazing acoustics. Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress, where it is believed Jesus was brought before Pontius Pilate (Luke 23).

Day 8 - October 30 – Masada, Ein Gedi, Dead Sea

Enjoy visiting the intriguing Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress built by Herod that later became the final tragic stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Ride the cable car to the top to explore the fortress and look down upon the remains of the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Journey to the oasis of Ein Gedi, where David and his men sought refuge from Saul (1 Samuel 23). Stop at the shores of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on earth, and feel its mineral-laden waters. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 - October 31 – Model City - Shrine of the Book, Yad Vashem (Holocaust Museum), Garden Tomb

Learn about the Jerusalem of Jesus’ day with a look at the first-century model of the City of Jerusalem, now housed at the Israel Museum. The museum contains 10,000 years of archeological artifacts and the Shrine of the Book exhibit that displays the Dead Sea Scroll containing the book of Isaiah. Explore the poignant exhibits of Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial. Take time to reflect on the agony of the cross at Gordon’s Calvary and the miraculous reality of the resurrection at the Garden Tomb.
