Day 3 - November 11

This day, we will visit the remarkable ruins of Caesarea Maritima. Named after Augustus Caesar, this city was the headquarters for Pontius Pilate. We will focus on the events in the New Testament that took place in this ancient place, from the conversion of the Gentile Cornelius to the imprisonment of Paul. Megiddo is the next stop, strategically located on the ancient caravan route connecting Europe, Asia and Africa, referred to in the book of Revelation. The journey continues by visiting the new yet astonishing archeological site of Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene, located on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. After dinner, we can explore the nightlife in Tiberius.

Day 4 - November 12

This day will be focused on the ministry of Jesus in the Galilee. We will visit Capernaum – a key city for Jesus’ early public ministry. We will dwell in the Sermon on the Mount in the vicinity where Jesus delivered this profound message. Traveling to Chorazin, we will see some of the most amazing ruins in the Holy Land. You will visit Caesarea Philippi and discover why this spot provided the perfect context for Jesus to ask his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” We will drive around the Sea of Galilee and continue to Kursi, which was in the region of the Gadarenes in Christ’s time, and remember where Christ cast the demons into the swine (Mark 5).

Day 5 - November 13

This morning, we leave the Galilee and journey to Jerusalem. On the way, we’ll visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home, where you can actually drink out of the same well Jesus drank from, which is still the only natural water source for the city. We will visit Nazareth Village, eat an authentic first-century lunch, and learn about life in Jesus's boyhood home. On the way to Jerusalem, we will take in more sites and discuss the biblical and historical events that occurred in the places we are experiencing. We will relive the account of Gideon as we stand at the stream, where God instructed him to reduce his army so that God would receive all the Glory. At Beth Shean, you will examine a city very important in the time of Jesus and the remarkable excavations that are going on. We will take one of the routes Jesus used to travel to Jerusalem along the Jordan River Valley past one of the oldest cities in the world, Jericho. We go up, up to Jerusalem to see the Golden City from the Mount of Olives before we settle into our hotel in the Old City of Jerusalem for the remainder of our pilgrimage. We arrive in the city of cities – Jerusalem!

Day 6 - November 14

We rise early this morning to go to the lowest spot on earth – the Dead Sea.  Traveling through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, we will arrive at Qumran, where we will discuss the Dead Sea Scrolls. Later, we explore Ein Gedi, where David most likely wrote some of his Psalms as he hid from Saul.  You will be amazed as you climb to the top of Masada, an impregnable fortress developed by Herod the Great. And, if the weather cooperates, we’ll take a dip in the Dead Sea for an unforgettable experience.

Day 7 - November 15

This morning, we worship in Bethlehem, the birthplace of our Lord. We will learn at Yad Vashem, the memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. We will visit the little village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of John the Baptist. In the late afternoon, we will begin our exploration of the Old City of Jerusalem.

Day 8 - November 16

Today, we will journey to Bet Shemesh, an ancient border city of the Tribe of Judah, infamously connected to an encounter with the Ark of the Covenant. We travel on to the Valley of Elah, where David defeated Goliath. We will visit the Latrun Monastery and finish the day at Jaffa near Tel Aviv.

Day 9 - November 17

This day will be a full day of walking in and around the Old City of Jerusalem, starting at the Mount of Olives, the Garden of Gethsemane, Caiaphas’ House, the Upper Room, Western Wall, Temple Mount, Via Dolorosa, Antonia Fortress, and finish with a visit to Golgotha and the Garden Tomb to share Eucharist together celebrating the fact that HE IS RISEN, HE IS NOT HERE!

Day 10 - November 18

On our final day in Jerusalem, there will be free time and optional adventures. After our final dinner, we will depart for the airport for an overnight flight back to Kansas City. (Flight and airport transfers are not included in the price)

Day 11 - November 19

Today, we return home with memories to last a lifetime!
