Come Experience the Land of the Bible with the Jewish Christian Studies Center on this insightful tour from Genesis to Revelation starting at $3,750* from Newark, NJ, on December 3, 2024.   Join Cynthia Douthit, director of the JCSC, as we cross the bridge back into the time, culture, content, and context in which the Bible was written and lived. Matthew 24 is the backstory theme for the tour and the story of Hanukkah, as we will be there for this festival that Yeshua Jesus celebrated. We will bridge the Torah to the New Testament, to the book of Revelation, His return, and the 1000-Year Reign. Interesting teachings and learning opportunities will be available, such as lighting the Hanukkiah nightly, the Shabbat candles, Havdalah, sighting the new moon on Rosh Chodesh, and the opportunity to be immersed in the Jordon River, all of which were very familiar to Jesus and the people of the time. Experience the Land in the Biblical context as we read the Word of God right where it happened! You will sail on the Sea of Galilee and explore Jerusalem and areas that most tour groups do not. Our Israeli guide is a Messianic believer and will offer historical, cultural, and Biblical insight as he travels with us. Many insightful teachings are planned as we read the Scriptures on location and gain an understanding of the daily life of Yeshua Jesus and the people of the Bible. I invite you to come with me as we cross the bridge into a better understanding of Israel, the Festivals, Biblical life, and the days to come. It is all about Him from Genesis to Revelation. Special events are planned along the way!

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - December 3 – USA to the Holy Land

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight.

Day 2 - December 4 – Welcome to the Holy Land

You will be welcomed at the Tel Aviv airport by our representative and transferred to your Jerusalem hotel to enjoy dinner before retiring for the night.

Day 3 - December 5 – Jerusalem

We start our day in the Eternal City, God’s chosen city, Jerusalem! We walk below the current city streets, in the Rabbi’s tunnel, and go to the bedrock of Jerusalem and walk on the ancient streets. As we retrace the conversation between Yeshua and the disciples found in Matthew 24, we will see the stones that have fallen, have on-site teaching in the Kidron Valley, the Garden of Gethsemane and the Mount of Olives. We will walk the ancient trail that Yeshua most likely took as He traveled into Jerusalem before going to the cross. And we will descend into Gei Hinnom Valley or Ben Hinnom, explore Joshua 15, and other texts as we look at being outside the city, outside the camp.

Day 4 - December 6 – Jerusalem

The City of David! Go to the south of the Temple Mount. During the days of Avraham, some 4000 years ago, the foundation of the city was laid. You will see archaeological excavations, biblical finds spanning thousands of years of history including both First and Second Temple Jerusalem. Continue underground to the Gihon Spring, the major water source of Jerusalem. Other highlights are: Pool of Shiloah, the Herodian Road, Temple Sifting Project, the Caves and area associated with Hanukkah and Matthew 24. Welcome in the Sabbath at the Kotel, the Western Wall that is the supporting wall of the Temple Mount, built in the first century BC. Experience the Sabbath like no other in Jerusalem, the place that Yeshua Jesus was/is very familiar with and The Place (Ha Macomb), where He will return.

Day 5 - December 7 – Dead Sea & Masada

Dead Sea, saltiest body of water on earth, but someday will be living water! Visit Masada, the desert fortress-palace Herod built in the previous century, where the Romans waged both literal and psychological warfare on the besieged Jews, the Zealots and Sicarii, in the Jewish Revolt against Rome (66-73 CE).  Gilgal, mentioned 39 times in the Bible, is the first place the people brought out of Egypt camped upon entering the Promised Land and the place where they had the first Passover in the land. Qasr al-Yahud, southeast of Jericho, the site of immersion of Yeshua Jesus. On sight teaching and opportunity for immersion/mikvah.

Day 6 - December 8 – Samaria

Go to Beit El and receive a wonderful teaching of Jacob and the ladder! Mentioned in Genesis and throughout the O.T., the Tabernacle and the Ark were here for a while. Later, a golden calf was set up as a substitute for going up to Jerusalem. In Shiloh, an ancient city in Samaria, the Tabernacle was set up here, and was believed to have been in Shiloh for 369 years. Eli, the High priest, Hannah and Samuel figure prominently in the story of Shiloh. We make our way to the Galilee for the remainder of the tour.

Day 7 - December 9 – The Galilee

Capernaum, located on the main trade route between Damascus and Egypt, is the place Yeshua referred to as “His own city”, He lived here! Yeshua Jesus taught in the synagogue on Shabbat, and it is here that He gave the sermon on the Bread of Life. The Sea of Galilee is where Yeshua walked on water! We will have a boat ride on the sea and read the words of Yeshua calming the Sea and the significance to the event and the words of the disciples. Isaiah prophesied that Galilee would witness a major part of the blessings of the Messiah ( Isaiah 9:1-2 ). Magdala, an entire first-century Jewish town, was lying just below the surface. The excavation revealed multiple structures and four mikvaot (plural of mikvah or mikveh). In 2021, another synagogue from the Second Temple period was discovered at Magdala, which dates back to the time of Yeshua.

Day 8 - December 10 – The Galilee

Visit Jezreel Valley, the Valley of Megiddo, the sight of many battles in the past and a future battle of Revelation 16. In the Bible, it is referred to as the Way to the Sea. Har Meggido, meaning Mountain of Meggido, is strategically located at the crossroads of two military and trade routes. More than 17 strata of ruins are to be found here. The first town was built early 4th millennium BC. King Solomon rebuilt the city as a military centre; a number of the stables have been excavated at Megiddo. Mount Precipice, outside of Nazareth, is the site of the account of the attempt to push Yeshua off of the cliff. We view Mount Tabor from the Precipice, as we recall the military story of Barak, Deborah and Sisera. Some think this is the place of the Transfiguaration of Yeshua (on-site teaching and the significance of the Transfiguration to Sukkot).

Day 9 - December 11 – Golan Heights

Golan Heights, known as Bashan (designated city of refuge) in the Bible, was “the focus of a power struggle between the kings of Israel and the Aramaeans who were based near modern-day Damascus. Later, this area was under the control of Alexander the Great in 332 BC. Located in the north of Israel, it is situated between Lebanon and Syria. Mount Hermon is often referenced in the Bible and is sometimes covered in snow. Banias Springs, often called Caesarea Philippi, at the base of Mount Hermon, had numerous temples built here. During the time of Jesus, this was often referred to as “the gates of hell”. Matthew, Mark and Luke record the event of Yeshua Jesus asking them, “Who do you say I am?” There will be an on-location teaching of this area and the significance of the scene. Caesarea, the ancient port city, mentioned in Acts, is connected with the disciples and Paul being imprisoned there. Of particular interest, a Roman inscription mentions Pontius Pilate, the Roman procurator of Judaea at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion. This is the first mention of Pilate ever found that can be accurately dated within his lifetime. Return to your hotel for dinner and refreshing before a late night transfer to the airport to begin you journey home.

Day 10 - December 12 – Return to the USA

Arrive home in the USA with memories that will last a lifetime.
