Daily Itinerary

Day 1 - September 23 - DEPARTURE

Your journey begins when you depart the USA on your overnight international flight.

Day 2 - September 24 – ARRIVAL

Welcome to the Holy Land! Upon arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your Galilee area hotel for dinner & a good night’s rest.

Day 3 - September 25 – JESUS IN THE GALILEE

Start your day at Beit Shean, one of the cities of the Decapolis in Jesus day. See the theatre, Roman bath and more at this extensive site. Explore Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Stand on the Mount of Beatitudes and recall the Sermon on the Mount. Enjoy a St. Peter’s fish lunch (included) then set sail on a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee and share in a special time of worship on the water. Finally, gather at the River Jordan, where you can remember or renew your baptism.

Day 4 - September 26 – NAZARETH & THE NORTH

Look out over Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus, from Mount Precipice. Travel north to Caesarea Philippi, where Peter made his confession to Jesus, “Thou art the Christ, the son of the living God.” Drive through the Golan Heights and learn about their strategic importance to Israel. Also, visit Chorazim, one of the “cities of woe” mentioned by Jesus.

Day 5 - September 27 – FROM SEA TO SEA

Depart the Galilee and head to the Mediterranean. Pass through Cana, where Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding feast. Follow the ancient caravan route to Tel Megiddo, where 20 cities lie superimposed on one another overlooking the Valley of Armageddon. Stand on Mount Carmel, where Elijah defeated the prophets of Ba’al. Explore Caesarea Maritima, the coastal port city of Herod the Great. Dip your toes in the Mediterranean and explore the vast site including the roman aqueduct and theater. It was here that Cornelius became the first Gentile convert and Paul was held before being taken to Rome for trial. Head inland and check into your Jerusalem hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 - September 28 – CENTRAL ISRAEL

Walk in the Valley of Elah, where David long ago defeated Goliath with a slingshot and a stone. At Emmaus, recall how Jesus appeared to two of his disciples on the evening of the resurrection. Visit the Bell Caves of Beit Guvrin, where limestone was quarried. This city replaced Maresha, one of the Judean cities mentioned in the Bible, a city fortified by Rehoboam. Also visit Beit Shemesh, the first city to encounter the Ark of the Covenant on its return from being captured by the Philistines. Visit the Western Wall, the last remaining structural piece of Herod’s Temple. High on a hill west of Jerusalem, see the traditional site of Samuel’s Tomb.

Day 7 - September 29 – JERUSALEM & BETHLEHEM

Look out over the “Golden City” of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, where Jesus ascended to heaven 40 days after the resurrection. The Chapel of the Ascension marks the traditional spot. At Pater Noster Church, see the Lord’s Prayer displayed in 62 different languages. Pray among the olive trees in the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was betrayed with a kiss after the Last Supper. Continue to modern Jerusalem and visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, with its poignant exhibits honoring the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust. In Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, visit St. Catherine’s Church.

Day 8 - September 30 – SOUTHERN SEA, WILDERNESS & RUINS

Travel south to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Learn about the mysterious Essenes community who once lived here on the shores of the Dead Sea. Explore Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress of Herod the Great, which is famous as the final stronghold of the Jewish rebellion. Take the table car to the top and peer down at the Roman camps and siege ramp below. Next, take a dip in the renowned salt and mineral-laden waters of the Dead Sea before returning to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 - October 1 – JERUSALEM

On Mount Zion, enter the Upper Room, revered as the location of the Last Supper. Walk through the Old City and enjoy the preserved, ancient culture found in the narrow streets as well as the modernized Cardo in the Jewish Quarter. Lift your voice in praise in the wonderfully acoustic sanctuary of St. Anne’s Church. See the nearby Pool of Bethesda, where Jesus performed the Sabbath miracle. Walk in the footsteps of Jesus along the Via Dolorosa (Way of Suffering) to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Finally, gather together at the Garden Tomb to share in communion as you reflect on the agony of the crucifixion and the glory of the resurrection! After dinner, transfer to the airport for your night flight.

Day 10 - October 2 – RETURN

Return home with a transformed faith and memories to last a lifetime!
